I’m absolutely thrilled to announce that the pattern for the Flor Sweater is now LIVE! This design has been in the works for quite a while. My goal was to go for a rather basic sweater design, so the textured details of the garment would be what catches the eye. I made a sketch and knit up a swatch back in June 2020, and I instantly fell in love with it! The flower-like stitch pattern is most definitely my favorite feature of the sweater.
THE PATTERN
Flor is a delicate and romantic sweater with a lovely texture. The sweater features a simple stitch pattern, balloon sleeves and a folded neckband. It is comfortable, elegant and stylish – so it’s bound to become a staple in your wardrobe! Flor is worked in the round from the bottom up, then divided at the armholes to work front and back separately. The sleeves are worked in the round from the bottom up and are later attached to the body. Flor is designed to have some negative ease around the bust (approx. 0 – 10 cm / 0 – 4 inches), but you can also opt for 0 – 10 cm (0 – 4 inches) of positive ease if you prefer wearing your garments with a little more positive ease.
The pattern is available in English and Dutch. It contains instructions for finished bust sizes 73 – 160 cm / 28½ – 63 inches.
THE YARN
For this design, I had the amazing opportunity to collaborate with Courtney from Ivy & Autumn. I designed Flor using her (new!) yarn base Flock + shop staple Cumulus (both in colorway Wisteria). Flock is a fingering weight 100% non-sw Peruvian Highland wool that comes in 100 g skeins (à 420 meters / 459 yards). Cumulus is a single-ply lace weight kid silk yarn (72% Kid Mohair, 28% Mulberry Silk) that comes in 50 g skeins (à 420 meters / 459 yards). THE KAL
As you may know, Courtney (from Ivy & Autumn) and I have teamed up to host a Flor KAL! You can find everything you need to know about the KAL in this blog post. The post includes all the info you need to participate in the Flor KAL! I really hope you’ll join us. Participating in a KAL is a great way to connect with other knitters. You get to meet new people and make new friends. I will also be knitting along – I promised my sister I’d knit her a Flor as well.
I am hosting two group chats for Flor KAL participants who’d like to connect with other knitters during the Flor KAL – one on WhatsApp and one on Discord. You can also share your progress with fellow makers (and with me!), and ask help if you run into trouble while making your Flor.
