Meet Keshet – my very first top down design. It’s simple and sweet – which makes it the perfect beginner project. Keshet is worked up in stockinette stitch on 7 mm needles, so it’s a super quick knit. Please fill out the form below if you’d like to test the Keshet sweater. The form can be found after all of the info – you’ll have to scroll all the way down to find it.
Keshet is a simple and sweet raglan sweater with a warm and cozy turtleneck. It’s worked up in stockinette stitch using worsted weight yarn, so it’s a super quick knit. Keshet is designed with We Are Knitters’ The Meriwool, a 100% sw merino worsted weight yarn, which is a super soft and squishy yarn. Keshet is worked top down and in the round. After working the raglan increases you will split for the sleeves to finish the body and both sleeves separately. Keshet is designed to have some positive ease around the bust.

GARMENT MEASUREMENTS
Choosing the right size is of utmost importance. Take your body measurements and choose the size that corresponds with them. The recommended ease for this design is approx. 0 – 10 cm (0 – 4”) of positive ease. The measurements below are the finished garment measurements, not your own.
Chest:
80, (90, 100, 110) [120, 130, 140] (150, 160) cm // 32, (36, 40, 44) [48, 52, 56] (60, 64) inches
MATERIALS
Needles:
- 7 mm circular needle (US size 10, UK size 4) or other needle size that matches gauge. I recommend using an 80 or 100 cm circular for the body, depending on the size you’re knitting. The sleeves can be worked on a 40 cm circular needle, but DPNs or the magic loop method may be easier for the smaller sizes.
- 5 mm 60 circular needle (US size 8, UK size 6) for the neck ribbing, and 5 mm DPNs or circular needle for the sleeve ribbing. You can use DPNs or the magic loop method with a longer circular needle.
Yarn:
- Worsted weight yarn , approx. 550, (625, 700, 750) [825, 900, 975] (1050, 1100) meters / 600, (685, 775, 825) [900, 990, 1075] (1150, 1200) yards. I used The Meriwool from We Are Knitters in Sprinkle Fantasy. The Meriwool comes in 100g balls (à 136 meters / 149 yards) and is available through www.weareknitters.com. You can use code MGM75G3QY to get a $12/€10 discount on your first order from them. You are by no means obligated to use the same yarn. You are free to use any other yarn that matches gauge. Click here to find my guide to substituting yarn.
Other tools:
- Darning needle, scissors, stitch markers, scrap yarn OR extra cable.
